Meeting my past
Oh I have a story to tell. When I came down to Prarie View Christian Camp for spring break to help clean up the camp and get it ready for summer, I went to a spot I thought I remembered and found my name written on the sidewalk. A girl had written the year on the same square of sidewalk that my name was written. 1995. Somewhere near my name, I saw the name SETH. I thought to myself, this couldn't be Seth Caddell. The youth pastor that I had become friends with this past year and invited me down to the camp could it? So I called him over, showed him my name. and the name SETH that was very near my name. Sadly, he told me that was not his signature, but his best friend's from childhood camp days whose name was also Seth. Today, I met that Seth. He and his wife are the camp missionaries for the week who are going to Japan. When he came over to me today, he introduced himself and said, "Hi I'm Seth." I of course said hello and then I told him my story which was a bit shocking to him. It went like this. "You're Seth's old friend. This I know. Also, I know that your name is written next to mine on the sidewalk over there." He was like, "Whaaa... wha... what are you talking about? You... grew up here? That means... we probably knew each other! From way back then! That's crazy!" So here's my question. I call Seth and his wife a friend now. But can I call him an old friend? Can someone be an old friend if you don't remember them? Can you be considered friends with someone if they don't remember you?
